The conclusion of the main round and the EHF Champions League means that the long round-robin tests for the teams are almost set to complete. Now, 16 teams who will be entering into the group stages and it will be reduced to 12 teams for the main round. The final will be taking place in Budapest, but now things have to negotiate in the quarter-finals to start with. The clubs will be quite relieved at the start of the group stages, as games have been focused on a two legged affair up until now.
The current champions of the competition happen to be Györi Audi ETO KC. They were able to go top of the group one after beating RK Krim Mercator. There are also several other teams like Rostov-Don, who were able to secure a second spot, and FC Midtjylland in the latter rounds of the competition.
The ties for the quarter finals have just been released and it will witness Buducnost going up against Györ. FC Midtjylland will be playing against Vardar, while Metz Handball take on CSM Bucuresti. The final round of the quarter-finals will witness FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria playing against Rostov Don. After winning on aggregate, the teams will reach the FINAL4 event.
